On a nice, sunny late afternoon, I spent a little time on my deck watching eastern bluebirds and American goldfinches. The bluebirds were perching on our shepherd’s crooks, then would swoop down to the ground and pick up insects. The goldfinches spent most of their time perching in trees and waiting for the right moment to head to the thistle feeder to eat.
