Birding at Trap Pond State Park: Featuring Mallards (3/4/21)

We mainly birded in the area of the pond. We also crossed the bridge parallel to Trap Pond Road but there wasn’t much there. Other areas we covered were the open fields behind the main parking lot. Dozens of Canada geese were on the pond as was a male and female pair of northern shovelers. The male and female pair of mallards we saw were in the pond discharge area between the two small waterfalls. Other birds we identified included turkey vulture, Carolina chickadee, northern cardinal, an adult bald eagle, and red-bellied woodpecker.
