Birding at Trap Pond State Park: Featuring an Eastern Wood-Peewee (10/14/20)

Birding at Trap Pond State Park: Featuring an Eastern Wood-Peewee (10/14/20)

We got a couple of nice views of a great blue heron on the pond. What was especially nice was that an eastern wood-peewee was sitting on a twig, enabling me to take a couple of pictures of it. In my experience, the wood-peewees are usually heard more often than are seen so this sighting was a bonus. We caught a glimpse of four bald eagles flying (3 adults, 1 immature) and a red-tailed hawk. Other woody-type birds seen included eastern phoebe, yellow-rumped warbler, northern cardinal, Carolina wren, and northern flicker.
