We birded along the eastern side of the park, starting at the Bethesda Church parking lot and walking the path to the boardwalk over the swamp. Most of the interesting birds were found along this boardwalk. We saw two prothonotary warblers and a common yellowthroat here. Other birds we hear here included Louisiana waterthrush, oven bird, yellow-throated warbler, and great-crested flycatcher. Other birds identified on this trip included white-throated sparrow, blue-gray gnatcatcher, red-bellied woodpecker, pine warbler, red-eyed vireo, worm-eating warbler, great blue heron, hairy woodpecker, and American goldfinch.
