Birding at Trap Pond State Park: Featuring a Great Blue Heron (12/18/20)

It was a cold afternoon today—only in the mid-30’s—but at least it was mostly sunny and dry. There were at least 100 Canada geese resting along the shore close to the main parking lot area. In the pond we also saw a great blue heron, double-crested cormorant, ruddy duck, and a belted kingfisher. Near the metal pier were two fox sparrows. We hadn’t seen one of them in many years. They were in the shade so it was hard to get a clear picture of them. We also saw one bald eagle soaring overhead.
