Birding at Prime Hook NWR Fowler Beach: Featuring Tundra Swans (12/3/20)

We went birding this chilly morning (37 degrees at the start) at the Fowler Beach section of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). Fowler Beach Road ends at two small parking lots by a narrow channel.

We saw a small flock of snow geese there as well as some ducks and swans. From there we walked to the beach where we scoped out seabirds, among them, buffleheads, surf scoters, red-throated loons, and red-breasted mergansers. We twice had a small flock of tundra swans fly by near us.
