Birding at Prime Hook NWR Fowler Beach: Featuring an “Ipswich” Savannah Sparrow (11/10/22)

We went on a field trip with the Sussex Bird Club. Our walk started from the parking lot and we went to the beach and back. We hoped to find short-eared owls from the parking lot at the end of the day but we didn’t find any. Some of the birds we identified were northern harrier, surf scoter, dunlin, swamp sparrow, ring-billed gull, sharp-shinned hawk, mallard, sanderling, Savannah sparrow, American goldfinch, and double-crested cormorant. Separate from the bird club group, I saw an “Ipswich” Savannah sparrow walking in and out of the low-tide coral outcrops.
