The first of our four stops was along Foord’s Landing Road. We found the eastern screech-owl in the same tree we saw it last winter. We went to the Visitor’s Center area next and some of the birds we identified there were cedar waxwing, American robin, and Carolina wren. We picked up 25 species along the Dike Trail. Some of these birds were white-throated sparrow, greater yellowlegs, red-bellied woodpecker, blue jay, mallard, snow goose (a few flying with Canada geese), northern harrier, great blue heron, dunlin, green-winged teal, sanderling, killdeer, belted kingfisher, American goldfinch, Forster’s tern, and ring-billed gull. Birds we saw along the Boardwalk Trail included bald eagle, red-bellied woodpecker, red-winged blackbird, son sparrow, eastern towhee, and swamp sparrow.
