On a cold but sunny day, we went to Prime Hook NWR and birded in the area around the Visitor’s Center and along Dike Trail. There was a lot of activity in the feeder area behind the Visitor’s Center where we saw American goldfinches, house finches, purple finches, and dark-eyed juncos. The Dike Trail was fairly quiet but we managed to see buffleheads, small flocks of red-winged blackbirds, northern harriers, a northern mockingbird, an eastern bluebird, and Canada geese.
