Today’s trip took us to Prime Hook NWR. It was a cold afternoon (34°) at the start and the clouds moved in quicker than we would have liked. Nonetheless, I was able to get a few decent pictures. We started from the Visitor’s Center but we saw only a turkey vulture and some dark-eyed juncos. The feeders behind the building were low and there was no bird activity there. We moved on to the Dike Trail and found, among others, a belted kingfisher, a great blue heron, a flock of perhaps 100 dunlins, greater yellowlegs, a northern flicker, and an adult bald eagle in a tree across the water from the observation deck.
