We birded in the area around the Visitor’s Center, Dike Trail, and Boardwalk Trail. We identified 25 species along Dike Trail including cedar waxwing, blue-gray gnatcatcher, blue grosbeak, ruby-throated hummingbird, great egrets, three green herons, barn swallows, black vultures, and ospreys. Along the Boardwalk Trail, we saw blue grosbeak, osprey, eastern wood-peewee, an immature white-eyed vireo, and two adult bald eagles. Species count for this trip was 36.
