Birding at Nanticoke Wildlife Area – Featuring a Blue Grosbeak (5/11/23)

This was the second of two stops with the Sussex Bird Club. We walked through the woods for a little bit and then went around a large field. It was tough to see the birds here—only 8 of the 21 species identified were actually seen. Birds we identified included blue grosbeak, indigo bunting, northern cardinal, Carolina wren, eastern wood-peewee, bald eagle, blue jay, scarlet tanager, summer tanager, yellow-billed cuckoo, red-eyed vireo, white-eyed vireo, blackpoll warbler, ovenbird, brown-headed cowbird, turkey vulture, red-bellied woodpecker, and blue-gray gnatcatcher.
