Birding at Marsh Creek State Park – Featuring an Eastern Phoebe (10/1/23)

We started from the East Launch area and walked eastward across the lake’s edge until we reached the trees in the corner of the park. We saw some northern parulas and ruby-crowned kinglets in the trees near the purple martin house. Other birds identified along this trail include Canada goose (flocks), belted kingfisher, bald eagle, blue jay, swamp sparrow, eastern phoebe, American crow, common yellowthroat, osprey, downy woodpecker, and gray catbird. Next, we walked along the Red Trail. Behind the pool near the parking lot, we saw northern parula and black-and-white warbler. Other birds we identified along this trail included Carolina chickadee, blue jay, downy woodpecker, red-breasted nuthatch, and tufted titmouse.
