Birding at Marsh Creek State Park: Featuring a Red-Tailed Hawk (6/14/21)

Birding at Marsh Creek State Park: Featuring a Red-Tailed Hawk (6/14/21)

We started birding from the East Launch area and walked north along the lake shore. Next, we came back the same way and walked the Red Trail to the pool area and back to the East Launch parking lot. The highlight birds were a warbling vireo in a tree along the lake shore and an immature red-tailed hawk in the trees behind the East Launch parking lot. We watched the hawk for at least 20 minutes as it flew from tree to tree and occasionally landed on the ground. Other birds identified included eastern bluebird, red-winged blackbird, great blue heron, Canada goose, eastern phoebe, yellow warbler, wood thrush, ovenbird, and eastern wood-peewee.
