Birding at Largo Central Park Nature Preserve – Featuring a Pied-Billed Grebe (1/27/23)

We spent the second half of the day back at Largo Central Park Nature Preserve for the third time in the last five days. We took mostly the same trails as before along the boardwalk around the pond and then the trail by the creek and around past the golf course to the shortcut to the pond and parking lot. Some of the birds seen were limpkin, white ibis, American anhinga, yellow-crowned night heron, great blue heron, Muscovy duck (with three ducklings), pied-billed grebe, great egret, blue jay, palm warbler, common gallinule, osprey, blue-gray gnatcatcher, little blue heron, and tricolored heron. We saw a flock of monk parakeets fly towards the top of the nearby electrical towers. An American kestrel also was perched high near the top of one of the towers.
