Birding at James Farm Ecological Preserve – Featuring a Willet (4/22/23)

We birded two trails in the Preserve. The first trail was the Red Trail which took us through the woods to a small beach area on Indian River Bay. Birds we identified included Carolina wren, osprey, willet (3), American oystercatcher (1), laughing gull, pileated woodpecker, Forster’s tern, black vulture, white-throated sparrow, pine warbler, barn swallow, brant, dunlin, field sparrow, snowy egret, and greater yellowlegs. We crossed the road next and walked along the Purple Trail. Some of the birds we identified along this trail were osprey, American robin, common yellowthroat, red-winged blackbird, great egret, northern cardinal, Carolina chickadee, and American crow.
