I went on a birdwalk with the Sussex Bird Club. The first destination was James Farm Ecological Preserve. The group split up and I went along the group that took the Red Trail to the bay. I identified 30 species along this trail (some group members saw other species as we spread out a little). The species I saw included yellow-bellied sapsucker, great blue heron, eastern bluebird, yellow-rumped warbler, bald eagle, red-eyed vireo, osprey, pine warbler, double-crested cormorant, killdeer, and laughing gull. We only saw 11 species along the Purple Trail. One of these was an American kestrel from the observation deck. Some other birds we saw included black vulture, blue jay, bald eagle, belted kingfisher, great blue heron, snowy egret, and greater yellowlegs.
