We started at the boat ramp parking lot on the west side of the lake. We walked along the west side of the lake to the northwest as far as the trail took us. Given the nice weather, we were surprised at the general lack of birds on the lake. We did see about 20 buffleheads, three mallards, and three American black ducks on the water. Other bird that we saw were American crow, turkey vulture, belted kingfisher, song sparrow, and red-bellied woodpecker. We also heard a blue jay in the distance.
