Although it was mostly cloudy, it was a nice morning for birding at Hibernia County Park in Coatesville, Chester County, PA. We parked in the boat launch parking lot on the south side of Chambers Lake, then hiked along the west side and part of the north side of the lake. There was a variety of waterfowl on the lake but they were too far away to take pictures.
Fortunately, our spotting scope came in very handy and we identified Canada geese, buffleheads, mallards, pied-billed grebes, northern shovelers, green-winged teals, ruddy ducks, lesser scaups, hooded mergansers, and a lone canvasback. Altogether, we identified 31 species of birds this morning.
