I went on a field trip with the Sussex Bird Club to Fowler Beach. We found a few short-eared owls mixed in with some northern harriers over the marsh in the late afternoon. In the bay were some surf scoters and buffleheads. Further south along the beach was a large flock (1000’s) of snow geese. There was a flock of snow buntings with some horned larks along the beach near fence post 18. Other birds seen today included bald eagle, mallard, great blue heron, American black duck, Canada goose, and tundra swan.
