Our second stop in the morning was the DuPont Nature Center. Some of the birds we saw there from the observation platform were osprey, barn swallow, American oystercatcher, brown pelican, red knot (1), double-crested cormorant, semipalmated plover, dunlin, great blue heron, Canada goose, sanderling, ruddy turnstone, American oystercatcher, Caspian tern, and great black-backed gull. Next, we left the platform and walked down Lighthouse Road. Along the road, we added several seaside sparrows in the grasses. The tide was going out and we went as far as the guardrail where the water goes under the road. Off the south side of the road, we saw four clapper rails—two were adults and two were juveniles.
