Our first stop was at the DuPont Nature Center. We saw two bald eagles (one adult and one immature), three gull species (great black-backed, ring-billed, and herring), bufflehead, northern harrier, a small flock of greater yellowlegs, dozens of dunlins, one black-bellied plover, and a few boat-tailed grackles. We saw a great blue heron on Lighthouse Road on the way out. Next, we stopped at Slaughter Beach. There were groups of surf scoters and buffleheads in the water. We saw two adult bald eagles (one was the same one we saw at the DuPont Nature Center but viewed from a different angle), and the same three gull species. Our last stop across the street was at the Marvel Boardwalk. We did not identify any birds in the short time we were there. Looking into the afternoon sun did not help either.
