This was the second of a two-part field trip I attended with the Sussex Bird Club. We went to the south jetty at the Indian River Inlet. Two female harlequin ducks were seen by the rocks at the end of the jetty near the tower. Other birds seen were boat-tailed grackle, surf scoter, black scoter (many flying in the inlet), northern gannet (many out at sea), double-crested cormorant, and ring-billed gull. I walked under the bridge and saw a female long-tailed duck near the rocks by the second gazebo.
