First, we birded along the Indian River inlet. We arrived about the time of low tide. Out past the jetty we saw two razorbills. Other birds see on and over the water included common loon, great black-backed gull, long-tailed duck, Bonaparte’s gull, northern gannet, red-throated loon, common loon, double-crested cormorant, and surf scoter. Next, we went to Burton Island but only birded as far as the end of the causeway to the island. Many brants were in the water. Some of them swam close to the causeway rocks but were then scared off by a bald eagle. Other birds see here included bufflehead, great blue heron, American black duck, horned grebe, hooded merganser, herring gull, and northern mockingbird.
