We turned on Commons Ford Road to enter the park and we were greeted by two greater roadrunners on the right side of the road. We continued driving up the hill to the end of the public road. In this area, some of the birds we identified were black-crested titmouse, Bewick’s wren, eastern phoebe, great heron (flying), eastern bluebird, and house finch. Flying away from us when we arrived was a crested caracara. Next, we drove back down the road and parked in the lot at the bottom of the hill. We took a trail to the Colorado River and back. Some of the birds we identified there were white-eyed vireo, ladder-backed woodpecker, Carolina wren, Carolina chickadee, and blue-gray gnatcatcher. In the trees near the river edge where the water flows next to the trail were northern parula and yellow-throated warbler.
