Birding at Chincoteague Island Nature Trail: Featuring a Great-Crested Flycatcher (9/12/24)

We walked around the southern trail loop. The highlight was that we saw an immature red-headed woodpecker land on a tree near us. We also heard a northern waterthrush in the pond on the outside of the loop. Other birds we identified included Canada goose (flock), pine warbler, great-crested flycatcher, eastern wood-peewee, brown-headed nuthatch, blue jay, belted kingfisher, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, brown thrasher, gray catbird, red-eyed vireo, laughing gull, Carolina wren, and American robin.
