Birding at Cape May Point State Park: Featuring an American Oystercatcher (6/7/24)

We went to three areas of the park. The Red Trail was fairly quiet, especially in the ponds. Among the birds we identified there were osprey, indigo bunting, common yellowthroat, blue jay, mute swan, purple martin, and Carolina wren. The hawk watch Observation Deck was also quiet but some of the birds we saw there included northern mockingbird, mute swan, laughing gull, red-winged blackbird, purple martin, and Carolina chickadee, The Yellow/Blue trail was the most productive of the three trails. Some of the bird we identified along this rail were American oystercatcher, tree swallow, mallard, great black-backed gull, laughing gull, least tern, Canada goose, black vulture, pine warbler, red-winged blackbird, fish crow, indigo bunting, prairie warbler, and turkey vulture.
