Birding at Cape Henlopen State Park – Featuring a Snowy Egret (9/27/23)

We walked the north part of Gordon’s Pond Trail from the parking lot to just past Bench 5. Water levels were very high. We saw hundreds of tree swallows along both sides of the trail. Other birds seen included brown-headed nuthatch, snowy egret, great egret, Forster’s tern, great blue heron, American black duck, boat-tailed grackle, herring gull, northern cardinal, turkey vulture, Carolina wren, gray catbird, and Carolina chickadee.
