Birding at Cape Henlopen State Park: Featuring a Mallard (2/6/22)

We birded in the Wolfe Neck area of Cape Henlopen State Park. We saw several flocks of snow geese flying overhead. Other birds seen included mallard, an adult bald eagle, northern shoveler, lesser scaup, bufflehead, ring-billed gull, pileated woodpecker, northern cardinal, gadwall, great blue heron, Canada goose, American black duck, and turkey vulture. Several of these mallards were swimming in the Holland Glade marsh by the lookout point of the Junction and Breakwater Trail.
