Birding at Cape Henlopen State Park: Featuring a Lesser Black-Backed Gull (11/5/20)

We birded in two areas of the park. First we walked along Gordon’s Pond Trail (north side) and saw a merlin, yellow-rumped warbler, palm warbler, bufflehead, and an adult bald eagle. At Herring Point, we saw ring-billed, lesser black-backed, and great black-backed gulls. In the ocean were loons (common and red-throated), scoters (black and surf), royal terns, and double-crested cormorants. Several northern gannets were seen in the distance.
