Birding at Cape Henlopen State Park: Featuring a House Finch (3/12/21)

We birded in two areas of the park. First, we went to the fishing pier and the tide was still low. We identified great black-backed, herring, and ring-billed gulls, an adult bald eagle on the WWII observation tower, horned grebe, dozens of brants, hooded merganser, common loon, bufflehead, and northern cardinal. We birded the Seaside Nature Trail next although we only walked the west (left) half of the trail. Along the trail, we identified house finch, song sparrow, Carolina chickadee, white-throated sparrow, American robin, turkey vulture, double-crested cormorant, and great black-backed gull.
