We birded along the north side of Gordon’s Pond Trail from the parking lot to just beyond Bench 5. Birds we identified included American goldfinch, blue grosbeak, osprey, Carolina chickadee, green heron, snowy egret, greater yellowlegs, clapper rail, downy woodpecker, short-billed dowitcher, tree swallow, royal tern, common yellowthroat, great egret, killdeer, Forster’s tern, semipalmated plover, semipalmated sandpiper, laughing gull, and barn swallow. Two green herons and a snowy egret hung around for a while beyond the wooden fence before Bench 5.
