Birding at Bob Wentz at Windy Point Park: Featuring a Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher (4/4/24)

The first park we went to on our Texas trip was Bob Wentz at Windy Point Park. We first birded in the main area where the road ends at the point parking lot, then we walked down to the point area along Lake Travis. Birds in the parking lot area included scissor-tailed flycatcher (3 or 4), black-chinned hummingbird, vermillion flycatcher, lark sparrow, lesser goldfinch, and brown-headed cowbird. On the lake were gadwall, northern shoveler, American coot (most dominant of the water birds), and lesser scaup. We also saw two long-billed curlews flying overhead. There were kildeer along the shore with a few of their fledglings.
