We went birding this afternoon at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Cambridge, MD. It was our first time there. This is a great place for birding and photography. There is a lot of water and open spaces to see waterfowl and bald eagles. We spotted 10-12 bald eagles today. The birds are best seen by driving around the Wildlife Drive loop. We also walked around the Marsh Edge Trail and went to the observation deck.
The best picture of the day was a double-crested cormorant circling around a turtle who was warming up in the sun while sitting on a stump.
