I went on a two-part field trip with the Sussex Bird Club. The day started at Assawoman Wildlife Area. The few birds we identified from the gravel parking lot were pine warbler, American crow, Carolina wren, and northern cardinal. We spent the most time by the observation tower. Some of the birds we identified here were mute swan, brown-headed nuthatch, gadwall, blue-winged teal, green-winged teal, northern shoveler, Canada goose, greater yellowlegs, ruddy duck, pine warbler, canvasback, American black duck, bald eagle, and double-crested cormorant. The last stop was at Mulberry Landing. Birds identified here included bufflehead, osprey, downy woodpecker, ruby-crowned kinglet, great egret, turkey vulture, and tufted titmouse.
