Birding at Delaware Seashore State Park: Featuring Black Scoters (2/25/25)

We went to two areas of the park starting at the Indian River Inlet. It was low tide and there were over 200 scoters by the jetty. Most of them were black scoters, but there were surf scoters mixed in as well. Other birds seen included long-tailed duck, bufflehead, red-throated loon, common loon, great black-backed gull, and red-breasted merganser. Our second stop was at Burton Island, but we only went as far as the causeway. We saw just five species here: common merganser, bufflehead, American black duck, great blue heron, and ring-billed gull.
