The birding was relatively quiet here compared to the other New Jersey areas we covered this week. We first birded the Maritime Forest Trail, then the remainder of the time was spent walking along the seawall and along the jetty to the end of the railing. Some of the shorebirds we identified were great egret, Forster’s tern, herring gull, willet, double-crested cormorant, and laughing gull. Land-type birds we identified included northern parula, common yellowthroat, Carolina wren, American goldfinch, northern cardinal, tree swallow, house sparrow, and fish crow.
