Birding at Marsh Creek State Park: Featuring an Eastern Bluebird (2/9/24)

We covered two areas of the park. The first was in the East Launch area and we walked along the lake’s edge up to the woods. Birds we identified here included common merganser, bufflehead, belted kingfisher, song sparrow, greater scaup, downy woodpecker, eastern bluebird, great blue heron, ring-billed gull, Carolina wren, blue jay, red-shouldered hawk, white-throated sparrow, northern cardinal, and red-bellied woodpecker. We took the Red Trail next including a narrow, winding trail to the lake near the pool. Some of the bird we identified here included white-breasted nuthatch, downy woodpecker, great blue heron, dark-eyed junco, brown creeper, bald eagle, eastern bluebird, hermit thrush (on the winding trail), American crow, and American robin.
