Birding at Redden State Forest – Featuring a White-Throated Sparrow (4/19/23)

I went on a birdwalk this morning with the Sussex Bird Club. We went to two areas of Redden State Forest. The first area was Headquarters Tract. Some of the birds identified here were eastern phoebe, chipping sparrow, ovenbird, pine warbler, white-throated sparrow, Canada goose, white-eyed vireo, yellow-rumped warbler, blue-gray gnatcatcher, laughing gull, American goldfinch, pileated woodpecker, Carolina wren, and brown-headed cowbird. The second stop was at Jester Tract. We walked along the banks of the Gravelly Branch creek on both sides of Redden Road. Birds seen here included barn swallow, Canada goose, mallard (pair), green heron, ovenbird, American crow, yellow-rumped warbler, prothonotary warbler, common yellowthroat, tufted titmouse, northern cardinal, and blue-gray gnatcatcher.
