Birding at Prime Hook NWR: Featuring a Carolina Wren (3/11/22)

Prime Hook NWR was the first part of our trip today. We only identified killdeer, Canada goose, and turkey vulture at the Visitor’s Center. Dike Trail was better. Along this trail, some of the birds we saw included greater yellowlegs, bald eagle (immature), Carolina wren, mallard, northern pintail, green-winged teal, mute swan (2), herring gull, and Canada goose. We went to the Boardwalk Trail next and saw yellow-rumped warbler, bald eagle (2 adults, 1 immature), green-winged teal, red-winged blackbird, American black duck, northern pintail, Carolina chickadee, and turkey vulture. After we finished on this trail, we went to Foord’s Landing Road to see if the eastern screech-owl we saw twice last month was still in the same tree knot. Unfortunately, it wasn’t there.
