The second part of our trip today brought us to Silver Lake. There were many canvasbacks on the lake. A person on ebird reported 355 of them earlier in the day. We saw an immature red-tailed hawk perched high on top of a pine tree behind the north side of the lake. Other birds seen included northern cardinal, Canada goose, killdeer, white-throated sparrow, hooded merganser, red-winged blackbird, ring-billed gull, and herring gull.
